Vegans and non-vegans alike certainly felt the vibe this month at one of the Bay of Plenty’s dedicated Vegan Festivals. This festival is in its second year and showcases a selection of vegan food, food products, body & leisure products, fashion and footwear – all totally vegan - from around New Zealand.

The festival featured music by the Carnivorous Plant Society and also included a number of information stands including us (Vegan Society of Aoteroa), SAFE, and Sea Shepherd.

Alongside the food stalls and market there was a great line up of workshops and guest speakers. Presenters this year included vegan health coach Fee O’Shea, vegan GP Dr Sue Genner, vegan athletes Richie Hardcore and Julia Trezise-Conroy, Angel foods’ Alice Shopland, and Leo Murray from Why Waste sharing a message about going beyond sustainability.

With over 3500 people attending this year’s festival, organisers are dedicated to hosting this event each Spring in the Bay of Plenty. Maybe it's time to plan a Road Trip for September 2018!
