Sticky 'Honey' & Sesame Tofu

Ingredients

  • Tofu
  • 2 blocks firm tofu

  • 2 Tbsp cornstarch

  • 1 Tbsp garlic powder

  • 1 tsp salt

  • Sauce
  • 1⁄4 cup rice vinegar

  • 1⁄4 cup agave syrup

  • 1⁄4 cup sweet chili sauce

  • 1 Tbsp soy sauce

  • 1⁄2 tsp sesame oil

  • 1⁄3 cup water

  • Pinch of salt

  • 2 tsp cornflour

  • Toppings
  • Spring onions

  • Sesame seeds

Directions

  • Preheat the oven or air fryer to 180 °C.
  • Press the firm tofu with a paper towel to remove excess moisture, then break it into bite-sized chunks.
  • In a bowl, coat the tofu chunks with cornstarch, garlic powder and salt.
  • Bake the coated tofu in the preheated oven or air fryer for 15 minutes.
  • While the tofu is baking whisk together all the sauce ingredients in a bowl until the
  • cornflour is dissolved.
  • Heat a large frying pan with about 1 Tbsp of olive oil. Add the baked tofu chunks, coat them
  • in the oil, and then pour in the prepared sauce.
  • Stir the sauce around until it thickens and coats all the tofu. Simmer for a few more minutes.
  • Serve the tofu topped with spring onions and sesame seeds.
